Job Summary

The Patient Access Representative plays a vital role in ensuring seamless patient registration and admission processes for the Endoscopy Department and Emergency Department at Mercy Medical Center, part of Trinity Health Of New England.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify patient insurance requirements and obtain a thorough understanding of insurance benefits.
  • Collect upfront payments, co-pays, and deductibles in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Accurately enter demographic, financial, and advanced directive information into the EMR system.
  • Conduct thorough interviews with patients to obtain demographic and financial information, and input data into the EMR system.
  • Identify the party authorized to provide consent for services and ensure all necessary documentation is completed.
  • Explain hospital policies and regulations regarding patient valuables, rights, health care proxies, and notice to Medicare beneficiaries.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
  • Strong medical terminology skills.
  • Relevant experience in medical office, hospital, or physician billing, or patient registration.
Position Highlights
  • 40 hours per week, first shift, with rotating days and every other weekend in the ED.
  • Initial training requires 4 weeks of Monday to Friday day shift.
  • Additional EPIC training will be required, including daytime hours and some time in CT.
