Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Wind Farm Technician II to join our team at RWE Clean Energy, LLC. As a key member of our operations and maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our wind farms and related facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities on wind turbines and related equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and repair activities to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the operations and maintenance team.
  • Maintain accurate records of service activities and track maintenance schedules.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in a science or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in operations and/or maintenance in power generation, transmission, and/or distribution, with at least 2 years in wind turbine experience.
  • Alternatively, 2-year or 4-year college degree from an accredited school in a technical science such as engineering, physics, power, or closely related field.
  • Wind turbine experience with Vestas, GE, Acciona, Nordex, etc. preferred.
  • Military experience in a technical field (electrical, electronics, or mechanical) may be considered.
  • Current Journeyman, Master Electrician License, or Wind Tech Certificate may be substituted for experience.
  • Unrestricted driver's license in good standing required.
  • Ability to relocate to within 1 hour drive of site.
  • Must be able to maintain a personal weight limitation of 270 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb wind towers on a daily basis.
  • Must be able to balance to work in closed and small swaying areas on top of and within wind towers.
  • Ability to push/pull/lift tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work safely in extreme environments.
  • Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the work day.
  • Ability to follow standard work instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic rigging and signaling.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the use of hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned.
  • Intermediate PC/Laptop skills.
  • Ability to create and save documents and spreadsheets in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and utilize Teams for meetings.
  • Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team.
  • Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and repairs of electromechanical systems.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic circuit drawings.
  • Identify energy isolation points and implement LOTO for protection.
  • Intermediate understanding of electromechanical relay, hydraulic accumulator, linear transducer, and electrical motor.
  • Knowledge of power electronics, motor drives, AC/DC converters.
  • Knowledge of computer network communication protocol and theory of operation is desired.
  • Ability to understand and communicate root causes required.
  • Good communication skills and must value being part of a team.
  • Safety - Promote safety for all at all times.
  • Knowledge of JHA/LOTO/Tailboard forms.
  • Initiative - Able to work with minimum supervision and make decisions for all issues related to his/her discipline(s) with limited and/or available information.
  • Wind farm site location including work in and around energized wind turbine generators and balance of plant equipment (substation, pad mount transformers, etc.).
  • Must be willing to live within 1 hour drive time to site.
