Position Summary:

The Patient Registrar is essential to the operational and clerical functions within a healthcare setting. This role demands a background in healthcare administration, excellent interpersonal abilities, and proficiency with electronic health record systems, particularly EPIC. The Patient Registrar will engage with patients, oversee appointment management, and ensure the patient registration process is executed accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Patient Registration:
    • Front Desk Management: Welcome patients and oversee front desk operations, ensuring a welcoming and professional atmosphere.
    • Data Management: Input patient details accurately into the EPIC electronic health record system.
    • Information Verification: Confirm patient details, including demographics, insurance information, and medical history.
    • Appointment Coordination: Organize, modify, and cancel patient appointments as necessary.
  2. Administrative Functions:
    • Record Keeping: Maintain precise and current patient records, ensuring timely completion of all documentation.
    • Insurance Handling: Gather and verify insurance details; process patient co-pays and prepare necessary documentation for claims.
    • Effective Communication: Interact with patients, healthcare professionals, and insurance entities to address inquiries and provide necessary information.
  3. Customer Service Excellence:
    • Patient Engagement: Address patient questions, concerns, and issues with empathy and professionalism.
    • Support Services: Assist patients with forms, information, and directions within the healthcare facility.
  4. Compliance and Confidentiality:
    • Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all patient interactions and records comply with relevant regulations and maintain confidentiality.
    • Policy Compliance: Adhere to office policies and procedures regarding patient registration and administrative tasks.
Required Qualifications:
  • Healthcare Experience: Minimum of 12 months in an administrative or clerical role within a medical office.
  • EPIC Proficiency: Familiarity with the EPIC electronic health record system.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Customer Service Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage patient interactions with professionalism and sensitivity.
  • Administrative Skills: Experience in scheduling appointments, processing insurance, and maintaining accurate records.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Additional Experience: Previous role as a patient registrar or in a similar administrative capacity within a healthcare environment.
Education Requirements:
  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.
