About the Role

Hyde Leadership Charter School is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in supporting the academic and personal growth of our students with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Specialists, Teachers, and Instructional Assistants to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs of each student.
  • Provide students with IEPs with tailored learning experiences, coordinating with team teachers on lesson plans to ensure seamless integration.
  • Communicate effectively with families through regular progress reports, quarterly report cards, and timely updates on student progress.
  • Participate in the Committee on Special Education (CSE) process, ensuring that student progress is accurately documented and updates are recorded.
  • Offer push-in and push-out support for students with IEPs, ensuring they receive the necessary accommodations to succeed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date IEP documentation, ensuring that all relevant information is readily available.
  • Interact with SPED service providers as the initial liaison, providing necessary information to administration and ensuring seamless communication.
  • Participate in IEP annual and triennial reviews at the CSE, ensuring that student progress is accurately assessed and goals are revised as needed.
  • Meet all test and data reporting deadlines, maintaining accurate records of student progress.
  • Participate actively in weekly grade-level team planning meetings, collaborating with team teachers, specialists, and administrators to plan units of study and weekly lessons.
  • Attend all faculty meetings, staying informed about school-wide initiatives and policies.
Requirements
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and students.
  • Strong instructional and classroom management skills.
  • A belief in the unique potential of every individual.
  • Commitment to character development and family partnerships.
  • Three to five years of classroom experience, preferably in an urban school setting.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Masters degree in Education or relevant content area (preferred).
  • New York State Certification (required).

Hyde Leadership Charter School offers a competitive salary range of $66,085-$124,276, depending on experience. We are committed to providing a supportive and collaborative work environment that fosters growth and development.
