About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chef de Partie to join our culinary team at the InterContinental Miami Downtown. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for assisting with the planning, ordering, and production of food items for our food and beverage outlets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating and testing new recipes and menu designs to enhance our culinary offerings.
  • Inspect the cleanliness of the kitchen and all stations to ensure a safe and healthy environment for our guests and staff.
  • Maintain and adhere to proper storage procedures and state sanitation and health regulations.
  • Assist in determining the minimum and maximum stocks of food, materials, and equipment to optimize our inventory management.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to less experienced culinary staff to ensure their development and success.
  • Prepare batch recipes, cold food items, and assist in all kitchen activities to ensure that our guests receive high-quality food items in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate the smooth service and relation to the pass and pick-up of food to ensure seamless execution.
  • Assist in the supervision of day-to-day kitchen operations as needed to ensure our high standards are met.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus two years of experience as a cook, or equivalent combination of education and food preparation experience.
  • Degree or certificate in culinary arts preferred.
  • Ability to perform tasks that require carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds, moving about the kitchen, handling food, objects, products, and utensils, bending, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with other culinary staff, wait staff, and guests.
  • Mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances.
  • Reading and writing abilities to give and receive instructions and prepare recipes.
  • Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency.
