The Quantum Computing Research Engineer plays a vital role in the advancement of software solutions and associated systems. Within the Office of the CTO, this position involves investigating and developing methodologies to enhance quantum computing tasks pertinent to Ansys. Specifically, the individual will collaborate with various partners to implement and refine algorithms, including but not limited to Quantum Machine Learning, Physics Informed QML, and Variational Quantum Algorithms (VQA).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Investigate and create quantum computing algorithms such as QML or VQA, focusing on QPINNs, VQite, or QAOA as they relate to numerical simulations and physical phenomena. Explore and devise solutions for optimization challenges in physics utilizing both gradient-based and gradient-free quantum or machine learning algorithms, as well as classical methods. Engage in collaborative brainstorming, strategic planning, architectural design, and research initiatives. Develop and enhance core parallel algorithms and data structures to deliver optimal solutions utilizing Ansys tools. Document and share discovered optimization strategies through Ansys blogs or relevant technical conferences to inform and educate the developer community. Identify and resolve coding issues. Establish unit regression and/or system-level tests to comprehensively validate new features or modifications. Operate under the general guidance of a development manager.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, with a concentration in applied mathematics, physics, or a related discipline. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C/C++, with a solid grasp of algorithms, programming methodologies, and software architecture. Familiarity with quantum principles and techniques, including standard quantum algorithms like Quantum Fourier Transform (QFT), Quantum Phase Estimation (QPE), and Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in quantum computing programming using languages such as Qiskit or Pennylane. Background in general-purpose computing on GPU, including Cuda-Q and Nvidia quantum stack or AWS quantum stack.
