We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Quantum System Simulation Engineer to join our team at IonQ Inc.

This role will involve developing and implementing methods to perform simulations of quantum systems and architectures, as well as evaluating their performance.

You will work closely with our engineering team to gather requirements, develop necessary methods to integrate noise models connecting different tools in the simulation stack of the current and next generation quantum systems, and integrate tools with the rest of the software stack.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Performing quantum architecture and system performance simulations
  • Creating documentation, gathering requirements, and writing maintainable code following best practices to enable system performance and architecture simulations
  • Integrating different simulation software in the simulation stack
  • Automating, testing, and parallelizing simulation workflow
  • Improving efficiency and code quality of overall simulation tools
  • Documenting and communicating software development activities to the engineering team
  • Maintaining and improving build process, version control, and CI/CD pipeline

Requirements for this role include:

  • PhD in Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in simulations of quantum systems and architectures
  • Python programming for scientific computing

We offer a competitive salary range of $153,003 - $200,321, as well as a variable bonus and equity component, and a range of benefit options.
