The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is accountable for overseeing the maintenance and operational functions of our Distribution Center. This role is crucial in ensuring that all equipment within the facility is maintained effectively, minimizing unexpected downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Industrial Maintenance Technicians and Maintenance Leads to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and standards. Provide guidance, direction, and ongoing training.
  • Proactively communicate procedural updates, special instructions, and other relevant information to Maintenance Leads and Technicians.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to resolve system-related challenges, enhancing overall efficiency.
  • Manage vendor contracts for the procurement of maintenance supplies and service agreements.
  • Coordinate capital purchases in collaboration with Distribution Center management.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of parts using maintenance management software to prevent downtime due to insufficient stock.
  • Keep maintenance records for the fleet of order pickers and reach trucks.
  • Oversee janitorial services to ensure a safe and clean working environment.
  • Ensure that the facility and equipment comply with safety standards established by the Distribution Center and OSHA.
  • Develop and uphold preventative maintenance schedules and ensure compliance.
  • Conduct root cause analyses of equipment failures and implement effective solutions.
  • Regularly inspect equipment to identify current and potential maintenance needs; recommend upgrades or modifications to enhance performance and reliability.
  • Design operational systems to promote efficiency.
  • Prepare reports regarding operational performance.
  • Continuously explore new vendors for potential upgrades, cost savings, and performance improvements.
  • Create and manage the annual maintenance and facilities budget.
  • Collaborate with the Distribution Center Director to schedule downtime effectively.
  • Be hands-on during staffing shortages, training periods, and peak operational times.

Qualifications:

  • Technical degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in a distribution or production setting.
  • Preferred experience in team leadership.
  • Proficient in Programmable Logic Controllers and knowledgeable in electrical concepts.
  • Experience with Warehouse Control Systems.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and compliance.
  • Working knowledge of fire protection pumping systems and testing.
  • Able to troubleshoot and prioritize issues with electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic equipment, as well as conveyor systems.
  • Capable of operating power tools, handheld tools, and lift trucks.
  • Able to read and interpret diagrams, blueprints, and operation manuals.
  • Physical ability to climb ladders, work at various heights, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Willingness to work the necessary hours to complete projects/tasks and be on-call for maintenance staff.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
