About Evansville State Hospital:

Evansville State Hospital is one of Indiana's premier psychiatric facilities, dedicated to the mission of Hope and Recovery. Nestled on 88 acres, our institution offers medical treatment for chronic mental health issues and substance use disorders, supported by a committed team of psychiatrists and advanced practice professionals. Our Active Treatment program empowers patients to achieve their goals while promoting the least restrictive living environment possible.

Our multidisciplinary team collaborates to assist patients in their treatment journey, which includes medical staff, nursing, psychology, social work, rehabilitation therapy, and community integration programs. Evansville State Hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission as an Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital and holds certification from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services as a Psychiatric Medicare/Medicaid Hospital.

Compensation Overview:

The starting salary for this position is typically $53,222.00, though it may vary based on educational background or relevant work experience.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary duties of this role include:

  • Developing daily and weekly work schedules based on priorities and deadlines.
  • Establishing methods and schedules for maintenance and facility services.
  • Identifying resource requirements, discussing them with management, and allocating resources accordingly.
  • Delegating tasks to team members, conducting routine checks, and reviewing complex projects.
  • Maintaining operational systems to monitor work orders, preventative maintenance logs, and safety reports.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations and quality standards.
  • Regularly inspecting the facility for safety and security issues.
  • Overseeing the installation, inspection, repair, and maintenance of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Managing the heating, cooling, and ventilation systems across all facility locations.
  • Ordering supplies and equipment, and preparing specifications in line with purchasing procedures.
  • Recruiting, onboarding, and training staff to ensure clarity in role expectations and opportunities for professional growth.
  • Setting performance expectations, measuring progress, providing feedback, and evaluating employee performance.

Qualifications for Success:

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE).
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in maintenance, construction, or a related field, including at least one (1) year in a supervisory capacity.
  • Willingness to travel with reasonable accommodations.
  • Advanced knowledge of various trades related to the installation, inspection, repair, and maintenance of facility systems.
  • Familiarity with tools, methods, practices, materials, and equipment used in building and mechanical trades.
  • Understanding of local, state, and federal laws governing facility repair and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions necessary for safe job performance.
  • Ability to interpret detailed plans and specifications.
  • Capability to plan long-term schedules for preventative and emergency maintenance.
  • Skill in estimating costs for repair and construction projects.
  • Ability to lead a diverse team in both supervisory and technical roles.
  • Competence in delegating tasks, providing clear direction, and managing workflow.
  • Ability to give constructive feedback and coach employees for skill development.
Supervisory Duties:

This position may involve direct supervision of one or more staff members and requires a high level of judgment and care in overseeing operations.
