POSITION SUMMARY
A Patient Access Specialist acts as the initial point of interaction for Froedtert South.

This role encompasses responsibilities such as scheduling appointments, managing patient check-in and check-out processes, handling registrations, overseeing coverage management, facilitating patient portal enrollments, collecting and routing patient messages, providing departmental assistance, and managing prior authorizations and work queues.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or GED is required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1 year of experience in a relevant field is preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
Preferred qualifications include formal education beyond high school in Business or Healthcare or equivalent experience.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Experience in a healthcare business or reception setting is essential.
Strong computer proficiency and customer service skills are required.
Familiarity with medical terminology, including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes is necessary.
Proficient in using the internet, email, and Microsoft Office.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.

Demonstrated ability to organize tasks efficiently while maintaining accuracy and productivity is crucial. Experience in patient registration, insurance verification, and understanding health insurance plans is advantageous.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments.
2. Execute pre-arrival registration in accordance with established standards.
3. Accurately identify and document patient insurance coverage.
4. Perform check-in and check-out procedures for patient visits.
5. Collect applicable copays, patient balances, pre-payments, and self-pay amounts for services rendered.
6. Manage and resolve assigned departmental work queues.
7. Take messages (both via telephone and in-person) and utilize healthcare software to facilitate communication between patients and the clinical care team.
8. Handle care referrals and prior authorization tasks proficiently.
9. Utilize healthcare software effectively while adhering to established standards.
