Position Overview

A Patient Access Specialist is the initial point of contact for patients at Froedtert South. This role is essential in managing various administrative tasks that ensure a smooth patient experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Appointment Management: Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments as necessary.
  • Pre-Arrival Registration: Execute registration processes by adhering to established standards.
  • Insurance Verification: Accurately identify and document patients' insurance coverage.
  • Check-In/Check-Out: Perform check-in and check-out functions for patient visits.
  • Payment Collection: Collect applicable copays, patient balances, pre-payments, and self-pay payments for services rendered.
  • Work Queue Management: Manage and resolve assigned departmental work queues efficiently.
  • Communication Facilitation: Take messages and utilize healthcare software to facilitate communication between patients and the clinical care team.
  • Referral Management: Handle care referrals and prior authorization processes proficiently.
Qualifications

Education: High School diploma or GED required.

Experience: 6 months to 1 year in a healthcare or receptionist environment preferred.

Skills: Excellent computer and customer service skills, knowledge of medical terminology, and familiarity with healthcare software.

Demonstrated ability to organize work efficiently while maintaining high accuracy and productivity levels is essential. Experience in patient registration and insurance verification is highly valued.
