Position Overview

A Patient Access Specialist acts as the initial point of contact for Froedtert South, playing a crucial role in the patient experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage appointment scheduling, including booking, rescheduling, and cancellations.
  • Facilitate patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently.
  • Conduct patient registration and verify insurance coverage accurately.
  • Assist with patient portal sign-up and collect messages for routing to the clinical team.
  • Handle prior authorizations and manage departmental work queues effectively.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School diploma or GED required.

Experience: 6 months to 1 year in a healthcare or receptionist role preferred.

Licenses/Certifications: Additional formal education in Business or Healthcare is advantageous.

Essential Skills and Abilities
  • Experience in a healthcare business setting.
  • Strong computer and customer service skills.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
  • Proficient in using internet, email, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize work efficiently while maintaining accuracy and productivity.
Core Duties

Perform check-in/check-out functions, ensuring all applicable copays and patient balances are collected. Utilize healthcare software to manage communications and facilitate care referrals.
