Job Summary

Van Wall Equipment is seeking a skilled Agricultural Equipment Technician to perform diagnostics, service repairs, and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned agricultural equipment. The ideal candidate will have expertise in using specialized tools to diagnose and repair John Deere equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Diagnose problems and determine necessary repairs
  • Perform inspections as required
  • Repair, service, and assemble machines
  • Check and report shortages and malfunctions to the Service Manager
  • Maintain and care for shop tools, machines, and equipment
  • Complete dis-assembly and inspection to ensure prompt ordering of parts and scheduling of machine work
  • Maintain records and account for time, parts, and supplies used in repairing and servicing equipment
  • Document each job by recording unit serial number and hour meter reading
  • Participate in service training programs to develop skills and knowledge
  • Report to the Service Manager any additional work required for proper equipment operation and safety
  • Maintain a clean and safe shop facility and environment
  • Maintain and care for shop tools, equipment, vehicles, and employee belongings
  • Stay current with technical changes
  • Assist the dealership in special programs, such as sales of service packages and demonstration programs
  • Represent the dealership as a professional Service Technician at all times
  • Obtain core training through JDU and maintain good standing by continuing education with a minimum of one Q-Diagnostic class every 5 years

Position Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience performing service repairs
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following technical manual procedures
  • Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural equipment
  • Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to lift at least 75 lbs repeatedly
  • Basic Service Technician certifications preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associates degree preferred
  • Valid driver's license required
