Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electronics Technician to join our team at the Virginia Department of Transportation. As a Senior Electronics Technician, you will be responsible for performing diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of various electronic and electrical systems, including traffic control systems, SCADA systems, and communication systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain bridge-tunnel industrial plant SCADA systems and Engineering Control systems
  • Perform and oversee maintenance of electronic and LAN-based control equipment in support of bridge-tunnel Medium Voltage Power Distribution System Switch Gear and SubStation Equipment
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain bridge-tunnel COMM fiber plant, including all components of fiber communications systems, intelligent traffic management systems, and field devices
  • Perform and oversee maintenance of UHF/VHF radio systems, Emergency Re-broadcast systems, over-height detection systems, CCTV cameras, and display equipment, internal phone systems, PBX equipment, tunnel internal networks, and programmable logic controllers

Requirements:

  • Experience in the electronics field, including troubleshooting, circuit analysis, and repair of electrical and electronic equipment
  • Experience in traffic signal maintenance and operations, including various traffic control devices
  • Experience applying federal and state regulations and standards related to electronics, electrical equipment, and traffic control equipment maintenance and operations
  • Ability to keep detailed and accurate records
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and apply various levels of electronic theory, requiring testing, troubleshooting, and repair
  • Ability to perform troubleshooting at four levels: system, unit, board, and component levels
  • Ability to perform physical labor tasks
  • Ability to oversee the work of others and plan, coordinate, and prioritize multiple assignments and competing priorities
  • Experience performing maintenance and repairs on various analog and digital communications systems, including traffic control systems, ITS systems, equipment control, and SCADA systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot various networks, including SCADA systems and PLCs
  • Substantial experience in the electronic field, including electronic board and component level repairs, inventory experience for stocking and tracking inventory
  • Ability to enter and maintain work orders in IMMS system
  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Electronics; equivalent experience or training may substitute for degree
  • Certification in fire alarm systems preferred
  • F.C.C. Maintenance Technician and other professional certifications
