At Northrop Grumman, our team members have remarkable opportunities to engage in groundbreaking systems that influence lives globally, both now and for future generations. Our innovative and creative spirit has positioned us at the forefront of numerous technological milestones in our nation's journey—from pioneering transatlantic flights to developing stealth bombers and landing on the moon. We seek individuals with bold ideas, courage, and a pioneering mindset to collaborate in inventing the future while enjoying the journey. Our culture is built on intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity, and the encouragement to bring your authentic self to work, fueled by an unyielding drive to achieve what others deem impossible. Our employees are not just part of history; they are actively creating it.

This position is currently contingent on program award and associated program award funding. Start dates are determined after funding confirmation.

At Northrop Grumman, we Define Possible. We are a dedicated community of engineers and leaders, a creative group of scientists and researchers, and a diverse assembly of individuals, all committed to pioneering the future. In the realm of Survivability, that future is promising. Or, from the adversary's viewpoint, it is as obscure as a moonless night.

Imagine witnessing the next generation of Stealth Technology soaring overhead at a stadium or parade, evoking admiration from the audience. Envision turning to your neighbor and saying, "I contributed to that." At Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems and within Survivability Engineering, that could be your reality. We are responsible for developing, testing, and implementing innovative materials, technologies, and concepts that empower the most lethal, intelligent, and collaborative systems to operate in enemy airspace with confidence. We collaborate closely with various engineering disciplines to design, develop, manufacture, and sustain these systems. Our responsibilities encompass the entire Systems Engineering lifecycle—from research and development to modeling and analysis, from static/component testing to dynamic flight testing, and from manufacturing support to field repairs and maintenance.

Our team plays a vital role in the success of our cornerstone programs and future initiatives, and your contribution would be equally crucial to our organizational success. Without Survivability Engineers, there is no Low in Low Observable. Without us, there is no Stealth in Stealth Bomber. Join us, and let's Define Survivable together.

Northrop Grumman is a leader in Stealth Technology. We are engaged in all phases of development, production, and maintenance of Low Observable (LO) platforms. We are currently seeking Stealth / Low Observable / Radar Cross Section (RCS) / Signature / Survivability Engineers to work on exciting and challenging projects.

  • Forecast the performance of your design using proprietary analysis codes.
  • Engage in hands-on verification of your predictions and designs by constructing and testing physical models.
  • Optimize designs for Stealth while adhering to the requirements of all other engineering disciplines.
  • Assume Responsibility for achieving customer objectives and balancing designs in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment.
  • Excel in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, diverse assignments, and extensive collaboration.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Proven skills and knowledge in Stealth (design integration, product support, or antenna integration).
  • Must possess an active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance.
  • A Special Access Program (SAP)/Program Access Request (PAR) will be initiated for the selected candidate and must be active before a start date can be established.
  • Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • Experience with Northrop Grumman proprietary computational electromagnetic analysis codes or similar codes used by competitors or customers.
  • Comprehensive understanding and capability to plan and execute Radio Frequency (RF) modeling and testing of complex classified targets at premier indoor/outdoor RCS/RF test facilities.
  • Working knowledge of the requirements of other supporting engineering disciplines to aid in achieving optimization of Stealth goals and a balanced design.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and technical writing skills to facilitate effective collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team and customers.
  • Knowledge of Applied Electromagnetics / Aircraft Survivability, and a thorough understanding of Electromagnetic Energy transmission through space and within materials.
  • The ability to post-process complex electromagnetic data to identify and exploit trends to enhance aircraft invisibility from RADAR.
  • Master's degree in physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • A current active U.S. Government in-scope DoD Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SAP).
