Envision turning to your companion and saying, "I contributed to that." At Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems and within the Survivability Engineering team, that could be your reality. We are responsible for developing, testing, and implementing advanced materials, technologies, and concepts that empower the most lethal, intelligent, and collaborative systems to navigate and operate in hostile airspace without detection. Our work involves close collaboration with various engineering disciplines to design, develop, manufacture, and sustain these systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize the latest classified cutting-edge technology to minimize the detectability of aircraft across electromagnetic, infrared, visual, and acoustic spectrums.
- Anticipate the performance of your designs using proprietary analysis tools.
- Engage in hands-on verification of your predictions and designs by constructing and testing physical models.
- Optimize designs for Stealth while ensuring compliance with requirements from all engineering disciplines.
- Assume responsibility for achieving customer objectives and balancing designs within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment.
- Excel in a dynamic work environment characterized by high expectations, diverse assignments, and extensive collaboration.
Basic Qualifications:
- Proven skills and knowledge in Stealth (design integration, product support, or antenna integration).
- Must possess an active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance.
- A Special Access Program (SAP)/Program Access Request (PAR) will be initiated for the selected candidate and must be active before a start date can be established.
- Educational/Experience Requirements:
- Senior Principal Survivability Engineer: Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline AND 9 years of related professional/military engineering experience, OR a Master's degree AND 7 years of related professional/military engineering experience, OR a Ph.D. AND 0 years of related professional/military engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience utilizing the latest classified cutting-edge technology to reduce aircraft detectability across various spectrums.
- Experience with Northrop Grumman proprietary computational electromagnetic analysis tools or similar tools used by competitors or clients.
- Comprehensive understanding and capability to plan and execute Radio Frequency (RF) modeling and testing of complex classified targets at premier RCS/RF test facilities.
- Familiarity with the requirements of other supporting engineering disciplines to aid in achieving optimized Stealth goals and balanced designs.
- Strong interpersonal communication and technical writing skills to facilitate effective collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team and clients.
- Knowledge of Applied Electromagnetics / Aircraft Survivability, and a thorough understanding of electromagnetic energy transmission through space and materials.
- Ability to analyze complex electromagnetic data to identify and leverage trends for enhancing aircraft stealth capabilities.
- Master's degree in physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- A current active U.S. Government in-scope DoD Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SAP).
Salary Range: $114,900 - $172,300
The salary range provided serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position, as well as the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may qualify for Long Term Incentives. Additionally, Northrop Grumman offers a variety of benefits, including health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plans, company-paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and personal business.
