Position Overview:
The Medical Assistant is an integral member of the healthcare team, supporting physicians and clinicians in delivering exceptional care to patients in an outpatient setting. This role is essential in ensuring efficient operations within a busy medical practice, assisting patients as they transition into the care environment. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting clinical tasks such as gathering medical histories and assisting in physical assessments
- Acting as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and other medical staff
- Monitoring and recording patients' vital signs
- Administering immunizations and medications
- Documenting patient information in electronic health records
- Collecting specimens for laboratory analysis
Qualifications Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of a medical assistant training program or at least two years of verified experience in the medical assistant field within the last five years
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in computer and keyboard usage
- Knowledge of ambulatory care equipment
- Current AHA CPR certification
- Willingness to travel locally to various sites
- Able to perform under pressure and in demanding situations
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
- Team-oriented with the ability to make prompt decisions
- Availability to work varying shifts throughout the week
- Capability to assist with patient lifting and transfer tasks as necessary
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds unassisted, using patient handling equipment for heavier lifts
Special lifting and movement cases will be assessed individually.
