Position Title: Speech Language Pathologist - PRN

Work Environment:
Acute Care and Outpatient Speech Therapy

Work Schedule:
PRN (As Needed) with weekday coverage and occasional weekend shifts

Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology or equivalent post-baccalaureate degree recognized by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association is required.
  • Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) and experience with Modified Barium Swallowing (MBS) are mandatory.
  • Texas Speech Language Pathology License is required upon hire, with preference for full licensure.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification must be obtained prior to independent patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
  • Ensure physician orders for therapy are verified and appropriate.
  • Review medical records and gather relevant patient history.
  • Obtain informed consent from patients for treatment.
  • Utilize age-appropriate assessment tools to evaluate patients and identify functional challenges.
  • Collaborate with patients and families to set measurable, functional goals.
  • Formulate treatment plans and therapeutic interventions to meet established goals.
  • Initiate discharge planning in conjunction with the care team and patient.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in age-appropriate patient treatment and adapt care based on individual needs.
  • Educate patients and families about treatment plans, safety, and self-management strategies.
  • Maintain effective communication with healthcare team members regarding patient care.
  • Participate in the training and orientation of new staff and volunteers.
  • Attend departmental meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation standards and regulatory guidelines.
  • Engage in professional development and seek opportunities for skill enhancement.
