About the Position

Cultural Resource Analysts, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Director to join our team in Knoxville, Tennessee. As a Laboratory Director, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating all laboratory processing and analyses. You will oversee the work of laboratory and field technicians, and under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, write data analyses sections of technical reports and perform specialized analyses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, and coordinate all laboratory processing and analyses.
  • Oversee the work of laboratory and field technicians.
  • Write data analyses sections of technical reports under the supervision of the Principal Investigator.
  • Perform specialized analyses under the supervision of the Principal Investigator.
  • Develop, modify, and implement lab methods and procedures for processing and analysis of materials.
  • Maintain, control, and monitor all field and laboratory equipment.
  • Coordinate with curatorial repositories for the final disposition of artifacts and project records.
  • Prepare collections for curation and arrange delivery to curatorial facilities.
Requirements

The minimum education requirement for this position is an undergraduate degree in anthropology with a specialization in archaeology. You must have at least five years of laboratory experience, three of which must have been in a supervisory position. You must also have strong working knowledge of both prehistoric and historic archaeology and related practices and artifacts. Experience with collections from Tennessee and adjacent states is a plus.
