Position Summary and Responsibilities

The Respiratory Care Specialist is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-focused respiratory care, adhering to departmental standards and state regulations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting thorough patient assessments, including evaluating breath sounds and airway conditions.
  • Administering respiratory therapies such as oxygen delivery and aerosol treatments.
  • Assisting in the placement of artificial airways and managing mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitoring patient responses to therapies and communicating with healthcare providers as necessary.
  • Facilitating the safe transport of patients requiring ventilatory support.
  • Responding to emergencies to ensure airway safety and effective ventilation.
Qualifications
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required within five years of employment.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required within one month of employment.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification required within five years of employment.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or State Registered Respiratory Therapist credentials.
  • Associate Degree or completion of a vocational program in respiratory care.
