Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range for this position reflects a nationwide market range and encompasses a broad spectrum of salaries for this role across the country.

The actual salary will be influenced by various factors, including the role's scope, complexity, and location; the candidate's skills, education, training, credentials, and experience; as well as other employment conditions.

Employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards as part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program.

$118,000 - $196,200.00

What Is the Opportunity?

As a Property Risk Management Specialist, you will be tasked with conducting risk engineering evaluations to assess potential exposures that could lead to property loss and subsequent business interruptions.

Utilizing your consulting expertise, you will communicate your assessment findings to site management and business partners. You will act as a technical resource and mentor to fellow risk control consultants.

The Property Risk Management Specialist is a proactive individual capable of managing the most intricate assignments, blending technical expertise with customer service expectations.

This position is highly visible.

Additionally, the Property Risk Management Specialist will demonstrate exceptional technical skills, possess a degree in engineering or fire sciences, and have a minimum of five years of experience in High-Protection Risk (HPR) or equivalent proficiency.

This role influences, but does not directly manage others.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct specialized Risk Assessment surveys at complex client locations to identify potential hazards/risk factors and controls at the request of clients or to assist in underwriting/risk selection.

Document findings and recommendations for Account Executives and/or clients.
Advise clients on strategies to control hazards to minimize or mitigate losses.

Demonstrate the ability to develop technically sound yet adaptable solutions to meet both Travelers' and the Client's needs.

Persuade clients to implement recommendations.
Serve as a technical expert resource for Risk Control Consultants and Underwriters.

Foster and maintain productive relationships with underwriting and service teams assigned to business units, the broker/agent community, Claims, other Risk Control staff, and clients.

May conduct research for underwriters or clients on business classes, operations, or any other technical subject requiring similar analysis.

Stay updated on regulatory environments and emerging issues in the technical specialist field.
Function as an Account Consultant for certain National Property accounts.
Maintain timely and relevant communications with Technical Directors, Field Management, and Risk Control staff.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Responsibilities

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
8 or more years of experience in Property/Highly Protected Risk (HPR) preferred.
Exceptional technical and interpersonal skills preferred.
Experience in technical training preferred.

Communication:
Ability to convey complex technical information and recommendations clearly to audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge.
Influence others to act on recommendations.
Effective listening skills.
Strong written communication abilities.

Business Knowledge:
Understanding of insurance products, services, and risk selection practices.
Comprehensive knowledge of Risk Control performance standards, policies, and procedures.

Technical Expertise:
Demonstrated command in the technical specialist discipline.
Familiarity with relevant Risk Control computer systems applications.

Customer Service:
Balance customer expectations with expense constraints.
Build credibility with internal and external customers.
Create customer satisfaction by showcasing the value of risk control services.

Resource Management:
Continuously assess workload in relation to business priorities; manage efforts accordingly.
Identify methods for enhancing personal productivity.
Make informed judgments about appropriate service levels for customers.

What is a Must Have?
A degree in Fire Sciences or an engineering discipline is required.
A minimum of 5 years' experience in Property Loss Prevention/Risk Control is required.
