Job Overview

Location: Onsite with potential for hybrid schedule post-training.

Position Summary: This role is pivotal in overseeing the management of intricate claims, ensuring thorough coverage verification, investigation, reserving, negotiation, and litigation oversight for the organization’s most significant and multifaceted claims.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the organization’s most challenging and high-stakes claims.
  • Conduct comprehensive coverage verification, claim investigations, reserving, and resolution of substantial claims.
  • Supervise all facets of claims, including litigation management, trial oversight, and reporting.
  • Engage in negotiations for claim settlements, either directly or through legal representatives, within established settlement parameters.
  • Foster effective collaboration, exemplify appropriate conduct, and provide informal assistance to colleagues.
  • Continuously pursue opportunities to enhance personal knowledge and skills while sharing insights with others.
  • Attend legal proceedings and mediations as required.
  • Maintain consistent and timely communication with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and sustain a close working relationship with defense attorneys in managing litigation, including strategic disposition throughout the claim's lifecycle.
  • Ensure legal counsel operates within the defined budget and adheres to defense guidelines.
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Juris Doctor preferred.
  • Proven experience in direct claims management; 7-10 years preferred, with a focus on medical professional liability claims.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to present professionally to both large groups and individuals.
  • Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Compensation for this position will be based on experience and other factors as permitted by law.
