Senior Research Scientist I

Job Summary

Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation (PIRE) is seeking a Senior Research Scientist I to join our team. As a Senior Research Scientist, you will be responsible for conducting research and evaluating programs in areas such as health, mental health, and substance use; child welfare; education; criminal justice; public policy; state, county, and community partnerships and program evaluation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and evaluation studies in areas such as health, mental health, and substance use; child welfare; education; criminal justice; public policy; state, county, and community partnerships and program evaluation.
  • Develop and implement research designs, data collection methods, and data analysis plans.
  • Collaborate with other PIRE scientists and practitioners to design and implement complex program evaluation strategies.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to states and communities on health-related issues.
  • Write grant and/or proposal applications for NIH, SAMHSA, and/or other agencies that fund scientific research.
Requirements
  • An advanced degree (e.g., M.D., Ph.D., J.D.) or equivalent experience.
  • At least ten years experience in a relevant professional research environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently develop a research program.
  • An established record of obtaining peer-reviewed funding alone or in collaboration with others.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required prior to beginning work at PIRE except in limited circumstances where an employee is legally entitled to an accommodation.
  • The ability to work for an US employer.
