Language Model Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Computational Linguist / Language Engineer to join our team at Amazon. The ideal candidate will have experience in Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, and Large Language Models.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Design and implement data collection tasks in response to science needs, including authoring instructions, defining quality targets, and providing day-to-day coordination of data collection efforts.
- Analyze large or noisy language data sets to derive conclusions and inform language modeling decisions.
- Automate tasks using scripting languages such as Python, Perl, and regular expressions.
- Collaborate with scientists and software engineers to evaluate the performance of language models.
- Handle competing requests from data customers.
Basic Qualifications:
- Masters or higher degree in a relevant field, such as computational linguistics, or 3-5 years of comparable experience.
- Experience with language annotation and scripting languages.
- Experience working with speech and text language data in multiple languages.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Computational Linguistics or equivalent field with computational emphasis.
- Native-level fluency in Arabic, Hindi, or Japanese.
- Expertise in bootstrapping language data collections in a quickly changing environment.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $67,700/year to $151,400/year, depending on the location and other factors.
