About the Role

Blue Origin is seeking a highly skilled Modeling and Simulation Engineer III to join our team in developing reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems. As a key member of our Space Systems Development business unit, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of space exploration and contributing to our mission of making humanity a multi-planetary species.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain complex aerospace vehicle and physical system models and simulations using industry-standard tools and languages.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and test advanced aerospace systems and technologies.
  • Perform trade studies and system performance analysis to support vehicle parachute configurations and flight test programs.
  • Work with parachute subject matter experts across industry and government organizations to pursue innovative design and technology solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of a versatile spacecraft that will serve a wide variety of customers.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, physics, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in developing aerospace vehicle and/or physical system models and simulations.
  • Strong fundamentals in rigid body dynamics, flight mechanics, and 1st principles physics-based mathematical models.
  • Familiarity with Python, C, and C++ programming languages.
  • Experience with aerodynamics, parachute hardware, and parachute modeling and simulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and maintain positive and professional relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's or Ph.D. in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, physics, or a related technical field.
  • Solid system engineering and configuration management skills.
  • Experience with NASA simulation tools and environments (Trick/JEOD).
  • Experience with Julia programming language.
  • Familiarity with Orbital Mechanics, Astrodynamics, Vehicle Dynamics, Robotics, Flight Environment Analysis, Simulation, and Modeling.
What We Offer

Blue Origin offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $136,800.00-$191,520.00, depending on location. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program. Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays. Discretionary bonus: Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
