Importance of This Role

The Systems Engineer position is vital for maintaining the integrity, security, and design of PSI's systems. This role is responsible for ensuring that the server infrastructure and related systems operate efficiently and securely, providing a stable foundation for business activities.

The Systems Engineer is tasked with safeguarding the security and integrity of both PSI and client data. This includes proactive monitoring and vulnerability scanning of systems, along with prompt resolution of any issues to minimize disruption to operations.

As part of a global team, you will collaborate with vendors and technology partners, contributing to ongoing projects and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The Systems Engineer will primarily focus on:

  • Designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and monitoring infrastructure hardware and software, including physical servers, SANs, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Diagnosing and resolving technical challenges across Applications, Network, Server, Security, and Hardware environments.
  • Collaborating with the global infrastructure team to deploy large-scale solutions across the organization.
  • Configuring and supporting domain and Active Directory infrastructure, along with enterprise applications.
  • Working alongside the Systems Administrator team to ensure server infrastructure is secure, updated, and properly maintained.
  • Maintaining accurate and current infrastructure documentation.
  • Analyzing long-term trends to identify future capacity or performance issues and recommending preventative measures.
  • Investigating and proposing technical solutions to address changing business requirements.
  • Creating comprehensive documentation, including design, implementation, and process guides.
  • Serving as a subject matter expert and mentor for junior team members.
Qualifications
  • 6+ years of experience in a System Administrator or Systems Engineer role.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, including Windows Server (2008 to 2019) and Windows 10.
  • Experience with Linux installations and administration (CentOS, RHEL, or Ubuntu).
  • Thorough understanding of core server technologies and domain management, including DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, GPO, SMTP, and SSL.
  • Experience with Domain Trusts and Active Directory Federation.
  • Solid understanding of SAN architecture and implementation.
  • Experience managing remote infrastructure across various time zones.
  • In-depth knowledge of VMware and SAN technologies.
  • Strong expertise in Office 365 security, migration, and integration.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining VOIP systems.
  • Proficiency in SQL and endpoint management systems (e.g., SCCM, Ivanti).
  • Familiarity with network topologies, including VLANs, IPs, subnets, and routing.
  • Good understanding of PowerShell and VB scripting.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of managing projects from inception to completion while providing regular updates.
  • Experience with CIS Hardening Standards and/or DISA STIGs.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
  • Experience with load balancers (e.g., F5, ideally Barracuda).
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team with a positive attitude.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for work-related purposes.
  • Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed to support IT operations.
  • Eligibility to obtain various US Federal and UK security clearances.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
