Position Overview

Garmin Int'l Inc. is in search of a Flight Control Systems Engineer 2. This role involves developing systems requirements for moderately complex autopilot and flight director systems, focusing on system performance, interfaces, architecture, and algorithms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Formulate development plans for enhancements that have been identified or requested.
  • Create formal or informal test plans to conduct verification and validation testing of new functionalities.
  • Provide tuning recommendations to flight test engineers based on data analysis and simulation.
  • Oversee bench testing and validation to support FAA certification.
  • Develop and test AFCS system wiring.
  • Mentor junior Flight Control Systems Engineers.

Associates have the flexibility to work from home, within commuting distance of the office, up to two days per week, provided their job duties can be effectively performed remotely and with appropriate managerial approval.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, along with at least one year of experience in flight controls or a comparable field.

Essential Skills
  • Educational background in classical control system theory with the ability to apply principles such as root locus, Bode, Nichols, or related concepts in control system design.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of control theory and applications of sampling, filtering, and embedded microprocessors.
  • Proficient in Matlab and Simulink.
  • Understanding of software development, particularly in the C programming language.
