Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced School Age Site Administrator to join our team at the YMCA of Delaware. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our school age programs, providing exceptional care and support to our children and families, and promoting a positive and inclusive environment for all.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide daily care and supervision to children in our school age programs, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
  • Develop and implement engaging and educational activities that promote healthy development and learning in children.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with children, families, and staff, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies, including those related to child safety and well-being.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as child development, education, and program management.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in early childhood education, child development, or related field preferred.
  • At least 20 years of age and meet one of the following qualifications:
  1. Option 1: High school diploma or equivalent and 12 college or university credits in recreation, elementary education, school-age care, or school-age administration, plus 6 months experience working with children kindergarten through sixth grade.
  2. Option 2: High school diploma or equivalent and 6 college or university credits in recreation, elementary education, school-age care, or school-age administration, plus the school-age bundle offered by the Delaware Institute for Excellence in Early Childhood, and 6 months experience working with children kindergarten through sixth grade.
  3. Option 3: High school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of the school-age bundle offered by the Delaware Institute for Excellence in Early Childhood, and 12 months experience working with children kindergarten through sixth grade.
Ability to pass a comprehensive criminal history, child abuse, and adult abuse background check.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals.Preferred Qualifications
  • Multi-lingual skills.
  • Prior experience working with youth in a group setting.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education programs and techniques.
  • Knowledge of child development theory and practice.
