The Site Protection Mechanic plays a vital role within the Facilities Operations division. This position is responsible for conducting thorough inspections and evaluations of various campus life safety systems, which encompass Fire Alarm systems, Sprinkler Systems, Fire Extinguishers, and additional safety equipment. The role demands constant readiness for emergency, urgent, and routine situations pertaining to life safety, security, and other facility-related systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections, testing, repairs, and maintenance of campus life safety and security systems.
  • Diagnose and execute emergency repairs for life safety concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors and skilled trades to mitigate damage and ensure the safety of occupants.
  • Employ a computerized maintenance management system for managing work orders.

Time Allocation for Tasks:

  • 50% dedicated to life safety inspections.
  • 30% responding to off-hour calls for building trades support.
  • 20% focused on emergency responses to life safety incidents.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction or industrial maintenance trades or related training.
  • Familiarity with electrical circuits and systems repair.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Proficient in computer use and experienced with CMMS Software Systems.
  • Able to respond to emergencies outside of regular hours.
  • Physical capability to fulfill job requirements.
