Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Project Engineer to join our team at Princeton University. As a key member of our Facilities Engineering and Campus Energy Department, you will be responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining campus building mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and manage mechanical projects, including HVAC systems, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Collaborate with consulting engineers, contractors, and maintenance personnel to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Evaluate building system performance and energy usage, and develop projects to address system deficiencies.
  • Provide technical assistance to academic researchers and departments on building renovations, system repairs, and capital construction projects.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring safety and comfort for building occupants while using energy efficiently.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).
  • Five (5) years relevant experience in building HVAC design and construction.
  • Background in engineering economics, construction safety, customer/client management, project management, construction contracts, and sustainability issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with HVAC BAS DDC or PLC controls.
  • Experience in ground source heat pump design and construction.
  • Demonstrated computer and software skills, including building energy modeling programs.
  • Professional Engineering License or EIT in New Jersey.
