Mechanical Project Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Project Engineer to join our team at Princeton University. As a key member of the Mechanical Systems Group, you will be responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining campus building mechanical systems.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with experience in building HVAC design and construction. You will work closely with administrative leadership, maintenance personnel, and consultants to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and manage mechanical projects, including HVAC systems, plumbing, and fire protection.
- Collaborate with consultants, contractors, and maintenance personnel to ensure that projects meet design standards and are completed safely and efficiently.
- Provide technical assistance to academic researchers and faculty members on lab equipment and system installations.
- Conduct investigations and troubleshoot building system problems, developing projects to address system deficiencies as needed.
- Work with the campus civil engineer and maintenance department on thermal distribution systems.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).
- Five (5) years relevant experience.
- Background in building HVAC design and construction.
- Versed in Engineering Economics, Construction Safety, Customer/Client Management, Project Management, Construction contracts, and Sustainability issues.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with HVAC BAS DDC or PLC controls.
- Experience in ground source heat pump design and construction.
- Demonstrated computer and software skills, including building energy modeling programs.
