Job Summary

The Site Protection Mechanic is a member of the Facilities Operations team responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the campus community. This role involves performing inspections and testing of life safety systems, including fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and fire extinguishers. The position also provides around-the-clock campus-wide response to emergency, urgent, and routine events related to life safety, access control, security, environmental, and other facilities systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform inspection, testing, repair, and maintenance of campus life safety and security systems.
  • Respond to emergency, urgent, and routine events related to life safety, access control, security, environmental, and other facilities systems.
  • Work independently from the computerized maintenance-management system (Maximo CMMS) to generate, manage, and complete work orders.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and other trade shops to troubleshoot and repair life safety and security systems.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in the construction or industrial maintenance trades or equivalent training in one or more of the following fields: life safety systems, security systems, locksmith, sprinkler fitter, mechanical trades.
  • Working knowledge of electrical circuits and electrical safe practices.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and service manuals for equipment serviced.
  • Thorough knowledge of safe work practices and experience in the repair, modification, and installation of electronic systems.
Working Conditions

The Site Protection Mechanic will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to varying temperatures and environmental conditions. The position requires the ability to work at heights, physical agility, and full range of motion. The candidate must be able to maintain balance and possess the ability to work independently on a fixed or rotating shift schedule.
