Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Coordinator to join our team at Allegheny Health Network. As a key member of our Patient Access department, you will be responsible for ensuring seamless patient access to our healthcare services. Your primary focus will be on scheduling, pre-registration, financial clearance, authorization, and referral validation, as well as creating a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:

* Conduct scheduling and pre-registration functions, validating patient demographic data and identifying and verifying medical benefits.
* Obtain limited clinical data based on service required and correct and update all necessary data to ensure timely and accurate bill submission.
* Verify insurance information through payor contacts via telephone, online resources, or electronic verification system, and identify payor authorization/referral requirements.
* Identify all patient financial responsibilities, calculate estimates, collect liabilities, and post payment transactions as appropriate in the ADT system, and perform daily reconciliation.
* Deliver a positive patient experience by cooperating with and maintaining excellent working relationships with patients, AHN leadership and staff, physician offices, and designated external agencies or vendors.

Requirements:

* High school diploma or GED; or one – three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* One previous year of related experience, preferably within a medical setting, financial services setting, and/or a demanding customer service environment.
* Experience operating a PC and using software applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Medical terminology and obtaining insurance verifications.
* Call/Service Center experience.
