Position Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Associate Project Engineer to support the engineering efforts of our solar and storage initiatives. This role will be integral to the project lifecycle and will report directly to the Director of EPC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop internal conceptual and preliminary designs for solar and storage projects, facilitating interconnection, permitting, and construction preparation.
  • Optimize solar array designs, assess meteorological resources, estimate energy production, and evaluate land constructability.
  • Engage with manufacturers of Modules, Inverters, Racking, and Transformers to gather technical specifications and integrate them into project designs.
  • Assist the Project Development team with the technical components of project proposals and permitting processes.
  • Oversee Scopes of Work, manage external consultants, and review deliverables for third-party design packages from initial concepts to finalized construction drawings.
  • Consolidate information across various disciplines to create a financially optimized project design and execution strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, design standards, and technical requirements throughout the engineering, procurement, and construction phases.
  • Travel to project sites as necessary to support evaluations and construction activities.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field; Civil or Electrical engineering is preferred.
  • 0-2+ years of experience in utility-scale solar design, including internships, with a focus on cross-disciplinary design optimization.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for renewable energy and sustainability.
  • Adept at navigating ambiguity and advancing technical initiatives.
  • Familiarity with software tools such as PVsyst, NREL SAM, PVlib, QGIS, AutoCAD, Excel, Python, R, and VBA is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel for site visits or meetings as required (up to 25%).
  • A valid US driver’s license.
  • Self-awareness and appreciation for team dynamics.
