Position: Senior Quality Assurance Program Engineer

Overview:
General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is a leading provider of advanced ordnance and tactical systems, dedicated to supporting the U.S. Department of Defense and allied nations. We are seeking a proactive and innovative Senior Quality Assurance Program Engineer to enhance our quality assurance initiatives.

Role Summary:
The Senior Quality Assurance Program Engineer will be responsible for managing quality assurance requirements for various programs, proactively identifying and addressing potential risks, and ensuring timely and precise submission of required documentation. This role involves analyzing program defects, conducting trend analyses, and performing root cause investigations to eliminate defects and enhance product quality, cost efficiency, and scheduling.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee program quality requirements and ensure compliance with established standards.
2. Conduct internal quality kickoff meetings for new initiatives.
3. Monitor program milestones to ensure adherence to schedules.
4. Validate the accuracy and timeliness of Customer Deliverable Documentation Requirements.
5. Review program documentation to confirm compliance with quality standards.
6. Track quality support labor hours against estimates.
7. Identify and communicate high-priority quality risks, implementing mitigation strategies.
8. Engage in Integrated Product Team meetings with both internal and external stakeholders.

Supplier Engagement:
1. Conduct audits of processes and quality systems to ensure adherence to specifications.
2. Evaluate supplier capabilities and identify potential risks.
3. Support first article acceptance testing and source inspections.
4. Drive the implementation of quality initiatives and training across the supply base.
5. Ensure that nonconformance issues are addressed and resolved in accordance with internal procedures.

Quality Standards and Compliance:
1. Establish and maintain quality standards for products and processes, recommending modifications to prevent defects.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate quality risks.
3. Conduct audits of production processes and suppliers to ensure compliance with quality standards.
4. Perform root cause analysis for defects and quality failures.
5. Ensure compliance with external quality standards, such as ISO 9001.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Associate's Degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in quality assurance or engineering.

Preferred:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience in Program Quality Engineering within manufacturing or defense sectors.
- Certifications such as ISO9001:2015 Lead Auditor or Six Sigma Green Belt.
- Proficiency in quality management tools and software.

Skills and Abilities:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing environments.
- High level of integrity and ethical standards.

Travel Requirements:
Willingness to travel up to 25-50% of the time may be necessary.
