Job Summary

The Financial Aid Counselor will provide exceptional service to students and families in the Financial Aid Office, ensuring that student service is maintained at a high level of excellence. This role will facilitate communication and education regarding financial aid programs and processes, while supporting the administrative staff with daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as a walk-in financial aid counselor for prospective and current students, educating families on financial aid programs, regulations, and loan programs.
Assist with student/parent inquiries regarding financial aid information, providing timely and accurate responses.
Track and follow up on verification and award documents, ensuring timely completion and submission.
Develop and implement financial literacy and education programs for prospective and current students.
Co-manage student employees with the Administrative Assistant, providing guidance and support.
Manage office social media presence, promoting the Financial Aid Office and its services.
Present at Admissions events, such as Open Houses and New Student Orientations, to promote the Financial Aid Office and its services.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree preferred, with a preference for experience in financial aid or a comparable combination of experience from other professional positions.
Ability to navigate and understand university student administrative management systems, as well as State and Federal financial aid program regulations and policies.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a focus on customer service and problem resolution.
Strong organizational skills, with a focus on multi-tasking and transactional service.
Proven customer service experience, with a focus on client needs and well-developed listening skills.
