Job Summary:

As a Registered Nurse at Career Systems, you will play a vital role in the medical assessment and treatment of students. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting cursory examinations of new students, evaluating and treating students during daily sick call, and measuring and recording student vital signs. You will also be responsible for administering specified medications, scheduling medical appointments, and assisting with Chronic Care Management Plans and Accommodations Plans in the CIS System.

Responsibilities:

Conduct cursory examinations of all new students
Evaluate and treat students during daily sick call as per Job Corps Standing Orders
Measure and record student vital signs, conduct cursory hearing and vision exams, and obtain and test urine, PPDs, and serum samples utilizing department equipment per policy
Perform phlebotomy procedures as required and develop a working knowledge of the CDC Laboratory computer system and testing procedures per National Job Corps protocol
Administer specified medications and note times and amounts on patients' charts
Assist in counting and maintaining narcotic medication logs and observe students and report adverse reactions to medication to the Health and Wellness Manager
Schedule medical appointments for on-center and community appointments
Assist with Chronic Care Management Plans and Accommodations Plans in the CIS System
Serve as Co-Disability Coordinator, managing and providing medical accommodations to students
Support the HEALS Committee and Activities
Attend required staff training sessions

Qualifications:

High school graduate plus State RN license and one year of experience

Minimum plus Job Corps or medical clinic experience

Knowledge Required:

Sound nursing techniques
Ability to relate effectively to student population
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Good organizational skills
Ability to carry out instructions without constant supervision
Must maintain CPR/First Aid certificates
All post-offer candidates must complete and pass a background check and drug screen
