About the Team:

The FIS Embedded Finance team is dedicated to empowering developers across various sectors to conceptualize, develop, and monetize financial products that significantly reshape the financial services landscape. We aim to eliminate the complexities that hinder businesses from launching innovative financial offerings, enabling them to focus on their unique value propositions rather than the burdens of financial infrastructure.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Convert intricate or unclear requirements into clean, maintainable, scalable, and well-documented code.
  • Design, develop, and sustain software applications and systems that deliver value to end-users.
  • Optimize algorithms, data utilization, and cloud services for performance, availability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software issues to ensure business continuity and maintain a high standard of user experience.
  • Engage in code reviews to uphold code quality, maintainability, security, scalability, and adherence to coding standards.
  • Develop unit and integration tests, implement observability, and follow best practices for builds and deployment to ensure platform reliability.
  • Provide live on-call support by participating in the team on-call rotation and managing production issues from root cause analysis to resolution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, design, security, compliance, etc.) to bring innovative ideas to fruition.
  • Establish and maintain high standards of technical excellence within the team.
  • Mentor junior engineers and assist in recruiting new talent to strengthen the team.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent education, with either 3+ years of relevant professional experience or an advanced degree such as a master's or PhD.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern development framework/language (e.g., Java, Python, Go).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to thrive in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience leading projects from architectural design to production, while maintaining high standards of technical excellence.
  • Expertise in at least one area relevant to our cloud-based financial platform (e.g., fintech, distributed systems, databases, security, or front-end).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Typically, 7+ years of relevant professional experience or a combination of work experience and advanced education.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • A track record of leading significant technical initiatives and delivering impactful results.
  • Experience in building and scaling high-performance engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with live on-call and 24/7 operation of production services.
  • Excellent communication skills to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Knowledge of version control systems (Git) and DevOps practices like continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD).
  • A solid understanding of security best practices for developing enterprise applications.
