About the Team:

We are the FIS Embedded Finance team, dedicated to empowering developers across various sectors to envision, create, and monetize financial products that significantly reshape how the financial industry utilizes services. Many businesses face challenges in developing the financial solutions they envision. Whether it’s launching a new credit card, a savings account, or a lending service, we streamline the process, allowing businesses to focus on innovation rather than the complexities of financial infrastructure.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Convert complex or unclear requirements into clean, maintainable, scalable, and well-documented code.
  • Design, develop, and sustain software applications and systems that deliver value to end-users.
  • Optimize algorithms, data usage, and cloud services for latency, availability, and cost efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and debug software issues to ensure business continuity and uphold a high standard for user experience.
  • Engage in code reviews to maintain code quality, security, scalability, and adherence to coding standards.
  • Write unit and integration tests, implement observability, and follow best practices for builds and deployment to ensure platform reliability.
  • Provide live on-call support by participating in the team on-call rotation and managing production issues from root cause analysis to resolution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, design, security, compliance, etc.) to bring concepts to fruition.
  • Uphold high standards of technical excellence across the team.
  • Mentor junior engineers and assist in recruiting new talent to strengthen the team.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent education, with either 3+ years of relevant professional experience or an advanced degree such as a master’s or PhD.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern development framework/language (e.g., Java, Python, Go).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to thrive in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience leading projects from architectural design to production, while maintaining high standards of technical excellence.
  • Expertise in at least one area relevant to our cloud-based financial platform (e.g., fintech, distributed systems, databases, security, or front-end).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Typically, 7+ years of relevant professional experience or a combination of work experience and advanced education.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • A track record of leading significant technical initiatives and delivering impactful results.
  • Experience in building and scaling high-performance engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with live on-call and 24/7 operation of production services.
  • Excellent communication skills to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Knowledge of version control systems (Git) and DevOps practices like continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD).
  • A solid understanding of security best practices for developing enterprise applications.
