POSITION SUMMARY: The individual in this role is accountable for the precise and prompt handling of clinic work queues, which encompasses charge examination, claim editing, and follow-up processes. This position requires effective communication regarding issues and trends among front office personnel, healthcare providers, clinic management, and the revenue cycle team. The specialist will assist in all clinic workflows that lead to the submission of accurate claims while minimizing registration, authorization, and injectable-related claim denials. Additionally, this role involves collecting and managing cash, co-payments, and executing comprehensive cashiering functions for the practice.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Not applicable.

SKILLS:

  • In-depth knowledge of all front office operations within a physician practice, including patient registration, telephone management, and reporting.
  • Extensive expertise in registration processes, particularly in resolving missing or incorrect registration and demographic information.
  • Proficient computer skills, including data entry capabilities.
  • Strong critical thinking abilities and exceptional customer service skills, particularly in managing challenging situations involving patients, colleagues, and providers.
  • Ability to think independently and exercise sound judgment to address unusual issues or challenges.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, operational procedures, and collection methodologies.
  • Competence in recognizing, assessing, and resolving problems is essential.
  • Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills necessary for effectively interacting with patients, physicians, families, insurance representatives, and all levels of clinical staff.
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 coding, medical insurance terminology, and medical information is required.
  • Capacity to perform under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining composure in any situation.
  • Thorough understanding of practice management software and outstanding customer service skills are essential.

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of five (5) years of experience in medical front office operations, patient registration, and electronic medical record (EMR) usage is required. Experience with Epic and payer portals is preferred.
