Job Description

About the Role

Splintek Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Inventory Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations department, you will be responsible for overseeing all supply management activities, ensuring that all inventory items are properly identified and readily accessible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement and Inventory Management: Manage all procurement process functions, including requests for proposal, negotiation, and administration of purchase orders for materials, supplies, capital equipment, tools, construction, and services.
  • Supply Chain Coordination: Submit POs as requested, monitor delivery dates, and keep warehouse and sales teams informed of progress.
  • Inventory Control: Maintain a system of ordering materials, supplies, and equipment, and process receivers and items received by the warehouse.
  • Low-Level Reporting: Monitor and manage Low-Level Reports, recreating weekly and updating daily.
  • Cycle Counts: Perform cycle counts frequently for different product lines and adjust SAGE or physical inventory as necessary.
  • Device History Reporting: Update Device History Reports daily by inputting into SAGE.
  • Inventory Valuation: Monitor inventory valuation for negative numbers and daily inventory dollar amounts.
  • Open POs: Monitor open POs and dollars on open POs.
  • Expected Delivery Reports: Update expected delivery reports weekly.
  • Inventory Variance: Monitor inventory variance on the general ledger daily.
  • Travel Arrangements: Purchase airfare and make hotel reservations for employees as needed.
  • Delivery and Distribution: Check all deliveries and distribute them accordingly.
  • Quarterly and Annual Inventories: Responsible for all quarterly and annual inventories.
  • Liaison: Act as a liaison with our phone company or IT service in case of any issues.
  • Asset Management: Keep an inventory of manufacturing assets, software assets, and lab assets.
  • Notary Services: Act as a notary for Splintek.
  • Quality Systems: Perform internal audits of quality systems annually.
  • Purchasing Strategies: Develop, lead, and execute purchasing strategies.
  • Quality Control: Maintain quality control by signing off on all production and warehouse quality inspections daily.
  • Humidity Checks: Perform weekly humidity checks and update logbooks accordingly.
  • Sales Forecasting: Figure and maintain monthly sales forecasts based on shipping output.
  • COGS: Create and maintain COGS.
  • AP and AR Support: Assist AP and AR as needed.
  • Policies and Procedures: Create and administer policies and procedures to ensure procurement compliance.
  • Key Performance Metrics: Set goals, track, analyze, and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses, improve effectiveness, and ensure appropriate operational decisions.
  • Standard Reports: Develop and maintain standard reports to assess performance and report goals.
  • Vendor Relations: Work closely with the vendor community to maintain good relations, follow up on company requirements, and regularly compare and solicit providers to ensure the best terms and pricing.
  • Product Research: Conduct research to identify products and supplies that provide the best value, quality, and delivery schedules.
  • Materials Knowledge: Obtain and maintain knowledge of the materials and components used in the injection molding industry.
  • Inventory Replenishment: Manage the replenishment of inventory to ensure balance with demand at the best price, lead time, and quality.
  • Bid Evaluation: Evaluate bids, quotes, and POs, and make recommendations based on commercial and technical factors.
  • Negotiation Strategies: Craft negotiation strategies and participate in closing deals with optimal terms.
  • Quality Monitoring: Monitor the quality of the product and service provided, and audit orders and deliveries to ensure the product ordered is received.
  • Delivery Time Improvement: Work with production and shipping to improve time on delivery.
  • Inventories: Perform or coordinate regular inventories of all materials, ensuring all products are properly labeled and located in their proper place.
  • Inventory Levels: Monitor and maintain proper inventory levels as determined by production schedules and product demand.
  • Financial Objectives: Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating immediate corrective actions for budget overages.
  • Communication: Communicate regularly with management in a clear, open, complete, and timely manner.
  • Professional Development: Maintain personal professional publications, establish personal networks, participate in professional societies, and earn certifications.
  • GMP and QMSM: Adhere to GMP and fulfill all QMSM and Quality Assurance responsibilities.
  • Lean and Six Sigma: Support Lean and Six Sigma initiatives.

Qualifications

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.

Preferred

  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree: In Purchasing, Business, or a related field.

Experience and Skills

  • Required: Minimum of 3 years of purchasing and inventory experience.
  • Strong Mathematical Aptitude: Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and strong general computer skills.

Preferred

  • Purchasing Management: 2 years of purchasing management experience.
  • Lean and Six Sigma: Education and experience in Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Injection Molding: Knowledge of injection molding processes.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Vision: Use vision to read, write, type, operate office, electronic, and manufacturing equipment, and make fine adjustments.

Speaking/Hearing: Give and receive information through speaking and hearing.

Motor Coordination: Requires hands to operate equipment.

Lift/Carry: Regularly lift, push, and move up to 50lbs.

Environment: Office and warehouse environments may be dusty, contain sharp edges, include areas that are not well lit, the floor may be uneven or cracked, and the facility may be subject to variations in temperature.
