RFK Community Alliance presents an exceptional opportunity for a Secondary Mathematics Educator with a background in special education in Springfield, MA.
Sign-On Incentive:
This role qualifies for a Sign-On Incentive of $2,500 during your first year of employment, distributed as follows: $500 after 3 months; $500 after 6 months; and $1,500 after 12 months.

The RFK Academy at RFK Community Alliance is a state-approved special education institution dedicated to serving students aged 10-22 with diverse disabilities. The Mathematics Educator plays a crucial role in implementing both functional and academic education within a supportive environment. This educator will create and monitor progress on educational goals and collaboratively assess and communicate progress with the educational team in accordance with treatment planning and students' Individualized Education Programs.
Your Contributions
The Mathematics Educator is essential in designing a tailored curriculum, delivering content, and, most importantly, facilitating students' engagement with the academic program. Responsibilities include:
- Creating a classroom environment that prioritizes safety, educational advancement, and social/emotional growth.
- Assessing students' specific educational requirements in Mathematics and developing tailored educational plans.
- Conducting both formal and informal educational assessments in Mathematics for each student.
- Collaborating with the Education Coordinator to develop Individual Education Program goals.
- Delivering classroom instruction to help each student achieve their Mathematics goals outlined in their Individualized Education Program and the curriculum standards.
- Participating in TEAM and Treatment Team Meetings concerning classroom students.
- Actively engaging in the implementation of the Behavior Management System.
- Fostering a collaborative atmosphere with colleagues and teaching assistants.
- Attending and contributing to Staff meetings and Professional Development Days.
- Engaging in teacher team meetings and executing team objectives.
- Serving as a positive role model for students and a supportive team member among RFK staff and external partners.
- Assuming additional responsibilities to ensure program safety and continuity.
You are a compassionate leader who values collaboration, professionalism, and teamwork. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree, with a preference for a Master's degree and MA certification in Mathematics or Moderate Disabilities.
- Special Education Teacher: Moderate Disabilities, High School, with a preference for a Science background.
- 40 hours per week: Monday - Friday, days; 12-month benefited position.
