Job Description

Azure Summit Technology is a leading provider of high-performance RF hardware, firmware, and software products, and innovative, practical, multi-function RF systems solutions that address emerging missions of national importance for customers across the Department of Defense.

We are a diverse team of highly qualified RF systems engineers and mission subject matter experts (SMEs) with backgrounds in electrical, mechanical, RF, hardware, software, firmware, and systems engineering, working together within a creative, innovative, and highly collaborative culture, to deliver cutting edge solutions for our customers.

We are seeking a Senior Specialist, Technical Writer to join our team. The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic, growing, cross-functional, and geographically distributed team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, organize, and deliver technical information (e.g., user guides, training materials, installation manuals) for non-technical and technical users in structured (markup language) or unstructured (Word) environments.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and convert the information into easy-to-understand procedures.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly, concisely, and accurately and be comfortable asking questions to ensure accuracy.
  • Identify and fill documentation gaps by conducting independent research, interviews, and hands-on equipment exploration.
  • A hands-on approach to understanding the technology and products being documented, with a keen ability to learn new technologies quickly and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Responsible for reviews of documentation for style, design, layout, accuracy, and editorial aspects.
  • Create and maintain high-quality documentation standards that are measurable across the technical writing team, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
  • Ensure best practices and style guides are followed while maintaining a consistent tone, structure, and format across all technical documentation.
  • Manage tasks and information flow using collaboration software (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, etc.).
  • Proactively engage with development teams to ensure timely updates and revisions to the documentation based on equipment changes and enhancements.
  • Stay current with industry standards and trends in technical documentation and recommend improvements and new approaches for enhancing the documentation process.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage complex projects.
Requirements
  • US citizenship, due to nature of the work and contract requirement
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance due to contract requirement
  • Bachelor's Degree in Technical Communication or 10 years' experience in lieu of a degree
  • Minimum 6 years' experience in technical writing
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with the Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Confluence, etc.)
  • Experience creating companion information such as illustrations using photography or illustration software (Photoshop) or flowcharts/graphs using Visio
  • Experience in training curriculum development
  • Understanding of Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
