Forestry Engineer

Job Summary
The Colville Tribes is seeking a highly skilled Forestry Engineer to join our team. As a Forestry Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the forest resources of the Colville Indian Reservation. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of forestry principles, practices, and technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement forest management plans to ensure the sustainable use of forest resources.
- Conduct field surveys and assessments to identify forest conditions and develop recommendations for forest management.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure that forest management activities are aligned with the Colville Tribes' goals and objectives.
- Develop and maintain relationships with contractors and other external partners to ensure the successful completion of forest management projects.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other staff members on forestry-related issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in forestry, forest management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in forestry or a related field.
- Valid WA State driver's license.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in forestry or a related field.
- Experience with forest management software and technologies.
- Knowledge of Federal and Tribal policies and regulations affecting forest management activities.
Working Conditions
The successful candidate will be required to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, deep snow, and exposure to wildlife. The candidate must also be able to sit for varying periods of time and use microcomputers and peripheral equipment.
