Compensation Range
$172,140 - $265,188 Annually
$172,140 - $221,064 Annually at the SEL.3 level
$206,490 - $265,188 Annually at the SEL.4 level

Position Overview
We are seeking an IT Operations Manager to oversee a team responsible for the management of IT infrastructure and high-performance computing in a secure environment. You will manage the budget and lead computing projects across multiple classified networks. This role is situated within the Field Intelligence Element (FIE) of the Global Security Directorate.
This position necessitates a primarily on-site presence, with limited options for remote work.
This role will be filled at either the SEL.3 or SEL.4 level, depending on assessed knowledge and experience. Additional responsibilities may be assigned if hired at the higher level.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise personnel and manage a multi-million-dollar budget.
- Provide strategic direction and technical leadership to effectively manage the IT environment, ensuring mission success and adherence to technology standards.
- Lead work breakdown and cost estimation, execution status, and risk management activities.
- Engage with stakeholders to negotiate and confirm deliverables.
- Collaborate with senior management and external partners to identify IT business needs and enhance service delivery.
- Analyze emerging technologies and trends to foster collaboration and cost-effective solutions.
- Ensure compliance with LLNL and DOE-IN policies, regulations, and safety protocols.
- Oversee ongoing compliance requirements and audits, including preparation and follow-up actions.
- Coordinate with business functions to align IT priorities with organizational goals.
- Lead IT teams and cross-functional groups to maintain high service standards and compliance.
- Consult with business units on IT requests and capabilities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Guide strategic processes for developing and implementing project solutions that meet customer requirements.
- Address complex issues where the solution is not predetermined.
- Lead strategic planning efforts and succession planning aligned with long-term goals.
- Active DOE Q-level clearance or Top-Secret clearance from another U.S. government agency at the time of hire, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI access.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Business Management with relevant IT experience, or equivalent education and experience.
- Advanced knowledge of modern IT technologies and operational trends.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to make informed decisions.
- Experience in managing technical teams, with knowledge of strategic planning and organizational dynamics.
- Excellent organizational skills to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships.
- Experience in financial management and balancing technical and budgetary priorities.
- Demonstrated leadership in developing and executing strategic plans.
- Effective communication skills to convey technical strategies across all management levels.
- Advanced negotiation and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and coach others.
- Master's degree in Computer Science or Business Management with relevant IT experience.
- Extensive experience in Windows, Linux, and/or Network System Administration.
- Experience in a classified computing environment.
- Familiarity with LLNL programs and understanding of relevant policies and procedures.
