Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Retail Service Team Member to join our Michaels Inc. team. As a Retail Service Team Member, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, managing events, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment.
Key Responsibilities
Here are some of the key responsibilities of this role:
- Provide fast and friendly customer service by helping customers shop and find products
- Plan and coordinate events, including children's birthday parties and craft classes
- Engage with clients of all ages and create a fun and creative environment
- Facilitate events, including setting up and breaking down equipment and supplies
- Maintain a clean and organized store environment, including restrooms and stockrooms
- Assist with merchandise recovery and maintenance, including stocking and pricing
- Participate in daily store cleanliness activities, including sweeping, vacuuming, and dusting
- Support shrink and safety programs, including monitoring and reporting any incidents
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements
- Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner, promote commitment to the organization's vision and values, and serve as a role model for other Team Members
Requirements
Here are some of the requirements for this role:
- Energetic and enthusiastic personality
- Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with others, including guests of all ages and co-workers
- Excellent people skills, including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication skills
- Experience working with children and children's events
- Organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills
- Retail and/or customer service experience required
- Ability to remain standing for long periods of time, move throughout the store, and lift heavy boxes and access high shelves by ladder or similar equipment
Work Environment
This role is based in a public retail store setting, with all public areas being climate-controlled. Some stock rooms may not be climate-controlled, and some outdoor work may be required if assigned to retrieve shopping carts or unload trucks. The Frame Shop contains glass cutters and heat presses, and work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.
