Job Summary

Aftenro Society Home for the Aged is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Caregiver to join our team. As a Caregiver, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Obtain vital signs and weights, and report any changes to the nursing staff.
  • Deliver meal trays to residents dining in their rooms.
  • Transport residents to and from meals and activities.
  • Make regular rounds on assigned residents to ensure their needs are met.
  • Answer call lights and respond to resident requests in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Pass a Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background study.
  • Every other weekend rotation is required for part-time positions.
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred, but not required. If enrolled in a CNA class, we can start training you now.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Work Environment

Aftenro Society Home for the Aged is a small, long-term care facility located on 5 acres near the University of Minnesota Duluth and St. Scholastica. We feature all private rooms and bathrooms for our residents in our 100-year-old building, which boasts carpeted halls and rooms with antique wood and stained glass windows.

We are a nonprofit facility without a corporate management company, simply a volunteer board of directors. No on-call rotation is required.

Aftenro Society Home for the Aged is licensed as a Board and Care facility, the only one left in the area, and is grandfathered in under that license. We are regulated like a skilled facility, but we do not provide skilled rehab care.
