Job Overview

Position Title: MRO Procurement Specialist


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.


INTERVIEW PROCESS:

All interviews will be conducted in person and will include a tour of the facility.


SCHEDULE:

Day Shift - 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Some overtime may be necessary.


WORK ARRANGEMENT:

This position requires 100% on-site presence; no hybrid or remote work options are available.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The Procurement Specialist will spend approximately 15% of their time on the plant floor, with the remaining 85% in an office environment. Physical tasks may include assisting with the receipt of large shipments, lifting and moving items, and operating forklifts and ladders.


KEY SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Proficient in computer applications, especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with ERP systems is essential.
  • Background in the manufacturing sector is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
  • 2-3 years of experience in inventory management.
  • 2-3 years of experience in procurement or planning roles.

ROLE SUMMARY:

The MRO Procurement Specialist will be tasked with sourcing and acquiring materials to support domestic manufacturing operations. This includes MRO supplies, freight, capital equipment, and various services. The role involves overseeing inventory management and ensuring proper storage and protection of materials, as well as coordinating daily work orders and planning.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Identify and source new materials as requested by various departments including Operations, R&D, Marketing, and Engineering.
  • Streamline and enhance the purchasing process for MRO supplies.
  • Negotiate freight contracts for FTL, LTL, and intermodal shipping.
  • Request quotes and establish supply agreements for items not covered by existing contracts.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to discover innovative methods for cost reduction and improved lead times.
  • Maintain regular communication with key suppliers to foster strong relationships.
  • Work collaboratively to refine purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the scheduled maintenance of plant machinery and equipment.
  • Develop and implement inspection and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Maintain work order logs and resource allocation as directed.
  • Perform additional purchasing duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma required; some college education preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in purchasing and negotiation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with ERP systems is necessary.
  • Highly organized with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working with diverse teams.
  • Able to identify non-compliance issues with parts and materials according to company and regulatory standards.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Comfortable in a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience in parts inventory and management is advantageous.
  • Mechanical aptitude is preferred.
