The primary objective of this role is to deliver direct skilled nursing, intervention, and supportive care activities within an inpatient environment, adhering to the guidelines set forth by Hospice Satilla and upholding its reputation as a Center of Excellence.


Key Responsibilities

Nursing Duties

Exhibit a commitment to Hospice Satilla's interdisciplinary approach to patient care, which encompasses but is not limited to:
  • Conducting assessments, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing process.
  • Providing skilled nursing assessments and hospice/palliative care to enhance the comfort and health of patients and their families, in alignment with Hospice Satilla's standards.

Facilitate communication with attending physicians and community resources to report changes and coordinate optimal care and resource utilization for patients and families. Gather data on physical, psychosocial, social, and spiritual factors that may impact patient and family well-being.


Maintain and update patient records to ensure that problems, plans, actions, and goals are accurately documented, reflecting changes as they occur.


Oversee the physical care of patients by instructing primary caregivers, volunteers, and employed caregivers.


Respond to medical or emotional crises and the death of patients, providing direct care as needed.


Demonstrate knowledge of agency guidelines and the regulations of community, state, and federal bodies related to hospice service delivery. Actively participate in patient care conferences.


Accept additional assignments as deemed appropriate.


Receive patient care plans for the relevant discipline and execute the program with minimal direct supervision. The Director of Nursing will provide direct clinical supervision, while the Executive Director will offer non-clinical oversight as necessary. Adhere to Universal Precautions guidelines when delivering patient care.


Assist in maintaining medical records, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with licensing and certification regulations as required.


Contribute to building and sustaining Hospice Satilla's reputation as a provider of exceptional hospice care by engaging as a professional team member. This includes:

  • Consistently upholding professional standards as outlined in the Hospice Satilla Associate Handbook and as communicated by management.

Foster a positive work environment by sharing information, employing problem-solving techniques, and being receptive to new ideas, constructive criticism, or advice from colleagues.


Ensure a safe environment for patients, guests, visitors, and staff.


Comply with all policies, procedures, and regulations regarding patient care, conduct, safety, fire, security, and risk management.
