Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Services Coordinator to join our team at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC). The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling work, providing support to resident physicians, and ensuring the smooth operation of our patient services department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and schedule work of Patient Service Assistants
  • Participate in orientation and training of new employees
  • Provide support for resident physicians
  • Oversee and coordinate all facets of day-to-day operation of the reception area
  • Maintain multifaceted computerized scheduling and billing system
  • Ensure completeness of physician charge sheets and verify patient insurance information
  • Code lab requisitions with necessary patient data
  • Provide customer service to patients and respond to general inquiries
  • Assume responsibility for all Part A, Invision and or Part B billing functions
  • Perform a variety of clerical tasks in support of office operations
  • Assist in preparing and administering office accounts and records
  • Train and orient new employees and monitor their progress
  • Provide feedback for and assist in completion of employee performance management evaluations
Requirements
  • High School or GED equivalency
  • 3 years' directly related experience
  • Knowledge of all HMO's, PPO's, Medicare, BC/BS and commercial restrictions
  • Working knowledge of capitated verses fee for service restrictions
  • Knowledge of CPT & ICD9 codes and medical terminology
  • Skill in using computerized medical record system and personal productivity applications
  • Skill in written and oral communication
  • Skill in performing non-complex arithmetic calculations
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
